We can't be mom and dad to our children
even that it would be ideal to have a set (and two paychecks)
We are happy when we can split a Happy Meal 3 ways
because we finally reached a point where we can treat our kids
We made it through hardships alone
because we got nauseous of pity
We prayed for our kids when they were sick and hungry
because we needed the money for gas to go to work
we vented, we listened and were given much advise...
we gave up recreational dating and espoused boundaries
we got handmade cards from our kids that we cherish
and sometimes we were handed a carnation on Mothers Day
at the church we attended.
and
we don't have to live with the jerk
