looking for a job?

nuisance filters

I always feel sad when someone gets short with a telemarketer.
Telemarketers face a lot of rejection and abuse, get minimum wages,
and most of the time are on commission, getting paid if they are lucky.
Consider limiting mail and phone calls by adding your name to the

Black Friday and Cyber Monday could pay off big with a little strategic planning.

Last year some moms got together with researched lists of what they wanted to purchase, divided the list to team members with assigned stores, down to floor plan and location of items (since some prized items were bait and limited) and a time limit.
Kids were all pooled in one home to share a sitter.

Drone strikes have nothing on single moms with limited funds. Ha!
here is a little clue: http://blackfriday.com/ to help you get organized.

Thanksgiving meals (free, fun, fabulous)

Food is so basic that many families in crisis are ashamed
when they are not able to provide the minimum requirement
to go on living, and humiliated when they have to ask,
or depend  on charity to meet that basic need.
Thanksgiving is about a meal from
people who are thankful
to be able to give to
  thankful recipients.
It is a win win
 nothing
 more.
See you there!

Salvation Army's traditional Thanksgiving dinner will be held at the Colorado Convention Center at 700 14th Street in Denver. Use the Exhibit Hall B entrance on Welton Street, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday.

King Soopers donated more than 7,000 pounds of food for the meal.
There will also be 375 warm coats available for adults in need.
Guests will be served plates filled with turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans and traditional trimmings, prepared for by the culinary staffs at the Inverness, Hyatt Convention Center.
Last year, 1,156 meals were served.

People needing Christmas assistance may call the

time to step up to the plate!

Our Troops Deserve Better. Demand the Senate Pass the Military Justice Improvement Act.Dear Friends,
What’s wrong with the way the military currently handles sexual assault? Just ask Brian Lewis.
After his assault by a superior officer, Brian was ordered not to report the crime – then misdiagnosed with a personality disorder in order to discharge him. His appeal to change that discharge to medical retirement for PTSD was denied.
Brian calls his discharge a “symbol of shame” that could destroy opportunities throughout his life. His story is shocking, and grossly unfair – but it’s far from uncommon.
Of the estimated 26,000 cases of rapes, sexual assaults and unwanted sexual contact in the military last year, just 302 were prosecuted. That is shameful.
We’ve fought for months to reform this broken system – and the bipartisan Military Justice Improvement Act is finally coming up for a full Senate vote in the coming days. I need you to stand with me again, and demand we pass these vital protections now.
“Justice for all” – it’s one of our country’s founding principles. So we owe those who put their lives on the line for us every day far better than a 1.2% prosecution rate for unspeakably heinous crimes.
Survivors like Brian Lewis have repeatedly cried out for changes in a system that routinely fails them. Even Defense Secretary Hagel calls sexual assault in the military a “scourge” to be “stamped out.”
So what are we waiting for? Join us in demanding the Senate pass the Military Justice Improvement Act now.
We depend on our courageous men and women in uniform to keep us safe. It’s time we did the same for them.
Thanks for your support,
Kirsten

The Women’s Memorial Foundation is proud to host a screening of the documentary Gold Star Children, written and directed by Mitty Griffis Mirrer, herself a Gold Star Child, on Monday, Nov. 11, at 12:00 p.m. The hour-long documentary “takes an intimate look at American children who've lost a parent to war, following the parallel journeys of two generations of grieving children—recent war orphans who’ve lost military parents serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia and here at home and adult-child survivors of the Vietnam War—as they learn to heal together. The film brings together voices of today with historical context, giving meaning and shape to how America understands those who sacrifice in service to their country and the children and families they leave behind. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion. The event is free and open to the public and seating is first-come, first-served. Learn more about Gold Star Children on their website.
