8th Annual Wild West Air Fest

Friday, August 31st, 2012 - Monday, September 3, 2012

Labor Day Weekend in Steamboat Springs, Colorado is packed with entertainment in the air, on the mountain and all over town! It's a Labor Day celebration for the whole family. On Saturday and Sunday the Wild West Air Fest features a vintage and warbird static aircraft display, classic cars, radio controlled airplane shows, Wings Over the Rockies KidSpace and much more!

Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for youth ages 6-12, and FREE for 5 and under.

The Colorado Balloon Classic

The event is held in Memorial Park, in Colorado Springs, off Pikes Peak Avenue between Hancock Avenue and Union Boulevard near the shores of Prospect Lake. Mass ascensions of dozens of balloons are scheduled for Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings with a Balloon Glo® scheduled for Saturday and Sunday evenings. Each year a variety of concessions are available and entertainment is provided during each event. Admission is free.

P.S. to School Supplies

We thought we were getting a really good handle at managing School Supplies until the emails came in with
"what about the entire list"? It is costing our moms $80.00 per child for supplies (up from $60.00 last year)

After obtaining lists from a cross section of Schools directly this is what is expected:

Kindergarten

1    Lg Backpack (no wheels)
1    Elmers Glue
24  Elmer Glue Sticks (REALLY?)
2    Boxes of Crayola Markers (REALLY?)
4    Boxes of 24 ct Crayons (REALLY?)
2    Scissors (Little Fiskars)
24  Pencils #2 sharpened (REALLY?)
3    Mead Compensation Books (11 Ct wide ruled)
4    Vinyl pocket Folders

2 Tubs Babywipes        (the following 5 items
3 Tubs Clorox Wipes    will be replaced
2 Lg Boxes of Tissues   with antiseptic soap
1 Room Deodorizer      and paper towels!)
1 Bottle of Hand Sanitizer 1 Box quart size zip lock bags
1 Box gallon size zip lock bags
1 Box slide lock bags (1gal freezer)
4 Pack of Play Doh
1 Pack of copier Paper (REALLY?)

By the time we checked the 3rd Grade Supply Lists we thought it might be better to home school.
We have some Community Support and we are still falling way short.
Parents, it is time to collaborate with the PTO/PTA and the Staff.* You have to start at your child's local School if anything is going to change. There is a hole in the bucket. Let's identify it and "mend" it.
