easy to prepare, good for the body, good for the wallet, good comfort food, good gift!
into a glass canning jar goes in the following order:
1/2 cup of green lentils
1 1/2 tea salt
3tablespoons dried onions
1/2 tea curry powder
1/2 tea garlic powder
1/2 cup red lentils
1/2 cup of dried apple pieces
1 tea of dried parsley
seal the jar and let it marinate for a month.
When you are ready to use it, simmer mix in 8 cups of water for @ 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. You can add turnips, carrots, potatoes, celery, leeks.... Serve with sour dough bread.
We are also sharing a pie secret. If you are having a problem with your pie crust, try 1/2 water and 1/2 pear juice

Emergency Shelter/Delores Project news
Ladies: There is an article planned to run in the Post tomorrow about the emergency shelter needs for single women during this severe cold weather. The fact is that even with our 15 overflow beds funded by the city, women are still sleeping in cars or outside as of last night.
If colleagues or friends comment on the article with you, please let them know our emergency shelter needs are:
Casserole-type meals for 20 people, nightly – HUGE need
New or used adult winter coats and boots
Large-sized sweatsuits or sweaters
Twin blankets in very good condition
Travel-sized toothpaste (we are OUT as of today)
For those who want to ‘do’ something on site, we would love to have the help of volunteers on Saturdays or Sundays in the early mornings (5am – 8 or 9) and evening (4pm – 8 or 9) Volunteers must apply and be screened and oriented.
Thanks all!
