Look before you leap
Divorce can be emotionally overwhelming but it does not have to be a bloodbath. If you want to go forward after a consultation/reality check with an attorney, be open and honest with each other to minimize emotional issues. The reality is that you are no longer a partnership; you are dissolving a business in a numbers game. It is going to cost you.
It is not necessary to deplete marital assets by wanting to get even, you have options.
Do a simple divorce when ½ of nothing is still nothing.
Have an attorney draft a proper agreement.
Mediate for financial and child issues so you don’t get what you can’t afford.
If you have been bullied or abused, a third party might just be right for you.
Money is not happiness – being engaged with life is.
